We are seeking submissions for Between the Lines, a commission inviting artists to reimagine the colouring sheet as a vehicle for public engagement and a creative resource for social prescribing. In an increasingly screen-dominated world, this project champions the tangible value of analogue activities as a necessary space for respite and focus.

We are looking for original concepts that treat line drawing not just as a passive template, but as an accessible entry point to contemporary art and creative well-being. Artwork must be produced as clean, high-contrast black and white line-work, designed specifically for participants to complete using everyday materials like coloured felt tips or crayons.

We welcome proposals rooted in abstraction, spatial research, pattern-making, or meditative mark-making. The selected artwork will be published digitally as a free, open-access download on nojobsinthearts.co.uk and distributed physically by No Jobs in the Arts to support future regional programming. This commission acts as a pilot framework, testing artist-led approaches to participatory art-making that will eventually form an expanded collection of visual art based activities on paper.

No prior experience is required. Technical art working support is available if needed, and selected drawings will be adapted into our unified house template before release.

How to Apply: Please email nojobsinthearts@hotmail.com with the following by 5pm on Monday 14th September with:

  • One rough initial sketch or concept layout.
  • A link to your practice (e.g. portfolio, website, or social media).
