Communal Programming Series

Let’s Rethink How to Support Creatives in the Future, with No Jobs in the Arts CIC
Online, Summer 2026: As No Jobs in the Arts looks ahead to the next five to ten years, the team is shifting its focus toward long-term, collective regional action. To pave the way for this future, they are launching Communal Programming—a series of five distinct events designed to break down, rethink, and co-create future support systems for creative people. Following the first Communal Programming event on Creative Residencies, the series will explore the future of creative infrastructure through four additional events:
- Event 1: Rethinking Creative Residencies
Previous Event
Communal Programming will begin with an event where we will collectively break down and rethink the idea of creative residencies.
- Event 2: Rethinking Learning Opportunities
Wednesday 8th July 2026, 6-730pm (Zoom)
Examining how we structure workshops, talks, and mentorship to deliver practical skills and learning opportunities. This session will focus on designing accessible educational models that help regional creatives level up their practice and career.
- Event 3: Rethinking Supported Commissioning
Wednesday 15th July 2026, 6-730pm (Zoom)
Unpacking the structures behind how creative work is funded and commissioned. We will explore how to build transparent, sustainable paid opportunities and discuss how positive action can be practically applied to ensure regional commissioning is genuinely equitable and inclusive.
- Event 4: Rethinking Self-publishing
Wednesday 22nd July 2026, 6-730pm (Zoom)
Exploring how grassroots print, digital media, and creative projects can build long-term financial resilience. This session will focus on uncovering community-led and non-traditional funding streams to sustainably back independent creative work.
- Event 5: Rethinking Programming with Community
Wednesday 29th July 2026, 6-730pm (Zoom)
Integrating community-led practices into the core of how No Jobs in the Arts operates. This collaborative working session will focus on how to practically embed communal programming methodologies into the organisation’s long-term structure and future delivery models.
Event Format and Structure:
Each event follows a clear, two-part format. The first 30 minutes will review No Jobs in the Arts’ previous experimental programming to date. The session will then open out into an hour-long collaborative space to map out the future of the theme and engage in blue-sky thinking. Participants can directly shape each session by contributing via social media before and after the event (see Instagram or Facebook)
